The Mosteiro de Sao Bento - founded by Benedictian monks in 1590 built this beautiful church in 1617. The exterior frflects the simplicity of the era but contains surprizing opulence of the Baroque era with the golf leaf coverings inside! This was a pieceful visit while in the very fast paced city of Rio de Janeiro.
