Magugu Village in the Rift Valley

Abandoned German farm house
The Tanzanian region was populated by German farmers.  Tanzania obtained independence in 1961 and united with Zanzibar in 1964.  Locals think the abandoned farm houses have ghosts.

Magugu tribe - people migrated to Tanzania from South Africa.  This low ceiling, squared house in village is typical of the Magugu people.  They wear green cloaks.

Rice fields in Rift Valley
There were severe floods in this region this past year.  The road had been mainly washed out.  It was a careful drive through this rural area to reach the southern tip of the Lake Manyara National Park.  The village is Mdori.  A store is called a "duku".
