Some of the vines are 80 to 90 years old to produce the Grand Cru Bordeaux wines. The arid rocky soil stresses the vines to produce the some of the most famous wines in the world. Thomas Jefferson bought wines from Chateau Haute Brion while serving as Colonial representative in France in the 1700's.
